CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK (Jan. 30 to Feb. 3, 2012)

Some highlights of our Catholic Schools Week celebratiions:

Monday - What does 1+1+8+8+8+12+8 equal? A Birthday Bag! Each grade was asked to bring in items for a Birthday Party - cake mix, icing, party favors, cups, plates, napkins, and (of course!) candles. Our JOOI Club packaged more than 50 Birthday Bags that will be distributed at the Assumption Food Pantry.

Tuesday - Red, white, and blue clothing brought on a very "spirited" day that included special treats and a very lively Pride Event. YOT members projected a collage of pictures, led cheers, and some crazy dances!

Wednesday - The activities were a bit more "academic." Homerooms played SMARTBoard trivia games. The students decorated t-shirts for their teachers and it was very easy to tell which shirt belonged to a particular teacher! (Can you guess which teacher had trains on her shirt?)

Thursday - Our day started with the Candlemas Day Mass. We listened to several guest speakers who gave witness to a variety of vocations. Their response to Jesus' invitation to "Come follow Me" was inspirational (and humorous, at times). Each homeroom made Valentines that will be given to retired religious; we are grateful for their faithfulness.

Friday - Fun, festive, fabulous, fantastic, fashionable (?) - these are just some or the words that describe the events of Friday. Mismatched outfits, the Birthday Bash and volleyball games (with balloons and beachballs) are annual, and much anticipated events. We celebrated the Birthday Bash with an original "Happy Birthday" song written by Mrs. Skiple and with ice cream treats provided by our very supportive PTO.
